Friends of New Orleans Lakefront Airport (“FONOLA”) is a US-registered charitable 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to restoring and beautifying the historic New Orleans Lakefront Airport.

Come visit the oldest and largest of only five art-deco air terminals in the country, with extraordinary bas-relief sculptures, terrazzo flooring, and historic murals from the 1930s era.

Seven of the eight original exquisite wall murals by Xavier Gonzalez need restoration. This exciting project is ready to begin and needs your help!

Our Mission

Friends of New Orleans Lakefront Airport is a US-registered non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity formed in 2009 and based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Our mission is to restore and beautify the public areas of New Orleans Lakefront Airport and to perpetuate its historic significance.

Our current top priority project for the airport is to restore the extraordinary murals created by local artist Xavier Gonzalez in 1938, which were uncovered in the recent restoration of the airport terminal building.
